Just when we thought we had discovered all there was to discover in the realm of strange and creepy Christmas folklore and traditions we present the Catalonia nativity display figurine tradition of the Caganer. The gist of the tradition that dates back to the 18th century is that the figurine represents good fortune for the following year through fertilizing the Earth.
