Our 2015 haunt introduced a major new component, the front paver terrace. For our 2014 haunt, we had built a small altar table to place in front of our dining room bump out window, which proved to be difficult to deploy due to the grading in that area. We had to offset the altar table leg lengths in order for it to sit level. With the way the builders had graded the area in front of the dining room window, the area was pitched down towards the inner corner of the house's foundation, which is a drainage no-no! Also, we found that any Halloween props we placed in that corner became visually lost due to the fact they were standing in a depression. The uneven grade in that area also proved to be difficult in safely using a ladder to put any type of holiday light stringers up on the gutters, so Mrs. Haunted Eve posed the question at the end of 2014, "What if we built a raised terrace in that spot to level it out?" And in the spring of 2015, Mr. Haunted Eve went to work on building the paver terrace. It makes a great display stage for our haunts, solved the slope drainage issues, and made putting up holiday lights on the gutters a whole lot safer! We were not the original owners of this house, because if we had designed the house from scratch, we would have had that entire front space be one large covered porch, but you work with what you've got.
