Movie: Totally Killer

We really enjoyed this. Sort of a mashup of Hot Tub Time Machine and an 80's teen slasher movie. Lots of funny quips about life in the 80s versus today. Mr. & Mrs. Haunted Eve were teenagers in the 80s.

Nickelodeon's 2023 A Really Haunted Loud House

This past weekend we decided to watch Nickelodeon's 2023 "A Really Haunted Loud House" on Paramount+ (aka The Star Trek Streaming Channel in our house). We wanted to watch something festive, fun, and new for Halloween season. We don't always want to watch horror movies filled with gloom, despair, and hopelessness! "A Really Loud Haunted House" didn't disappoint with the decorations, costumes, set design, and lighting. We've always been big fans of Disney's "Halloweentown" series for that very same reason. Yes, it's over the top silly (basically a tweenager's version of Netflix's 2020 "Hubie Halloween" which we also enjoyed immensely) but fun to watch none the less from a yard haunter's perspective.

Stella The Man-Eater From Manayunk

One of Mr. Haunted Eve's fond memories as a teenager was watching "Saturday Night Dead" out of Philadelphia after watching Saturday Night Live out of NYC. Mr. Haunted Eve was fortunate enough to be able to pick up both NYC and Philadelphia broadcasts from where he grew up in NJ. Saturday Night Dead (SND) had its own vivacious horror movie hostess, Stella The Man-Eater From Manayunk/Daughter of Desire. Stella was played by Philadelphia native actress/comedienne Karen Scioli. While Mr. Haunted Eve enjoyed the featured horror movies on SND, it was the antics of Stella that kept him staying up late those Saturday nights. Instead of a talking magic mirror or crystal ball, Stella had a talking "Bed". In fact, the only movie that Mr. Haunted Eve can remember watching of worth from SND was "The Tomb of Ligeia", a Roger Corman Edgar Allen Poe adaptation starring Vincent Price.

Rob Zombie's The Munsters

We're children of the 70's so we grew up on The Munsters, The Addams Family, and Bewitched in syndication, so this is our cup of tea so to speak. We concur with this review, it's a fun campy watch and the set design and lighting are visual eye candy.

Food Network Halloween Shows 2022 Update

For whatever reason, Food Network has been "keeping their cards close to their chest" regarding their 2022 Halloween TV programming. Normally by now, we can find somewhere online the complete Halloween season line up, but information is sparse this year. The website Halloween Movies On TV had this updated information as of 8/24/2022:

A Perfect Halloween

We always loved the Walgreen's "Town Of Perfect" Halloween commercial from the mid 2000's. There's a magical quality to it that manages to capture the essence of Halloween in a 30 second TV spot. Maybe the commercial resonated in our minds because at the time the commercial aired, our area didn't have any Walgreen's (but they did arrive soon thereafter), so perhaps the "unknown" element added to the said magic that the commercial generated which had yet to be spoiled by reality.

Halloween Baking Championship

Season 7 premieres on Monday, September 13 at 9 p.m.

Halloween Wars

Starts off with a new edition of Road to Halloween Wars on Sunday, September 19 at 8 p.m. followed by the Season 11 premier at 9 p.m.

Outrageous Pumpkins

New season premieres on Sunday, October 3 at 10 p.m.

Netflix's Hubie Halloween Drops October 7th

Outrageous Pumpkins begins on Food Network on September 20th at 10PM (originally was scheduled to start the 13th). This year the competition spans 4 episodes over 4 weeks. Famed expert pumpkin carver and sculptor Ray Villafane who was once a contestant on Outrageous Pumpkins over a decade ago, returns this time around as a judge.

New Seasons Of Food Network's Halloween Wars And Halloween Baking Championship Next Month

Food Network's annual Halloween programming is always something we look forward to every Halloween season and we were really afraid that this year due to the pandemic we'd be stuck watching reruns of Halloween Baking Championship and Halloween Wars. But Food Network's web pages for those shows indicate that a new season 10 of Halloween Wars premiers September 13th at 9 PM  and a new season 6 of Halloween Baking Championship premiers September 14th at 9 PM. A recent Popsugar article confirms and explains how Food Network managed to pull this off for this Halloween season. These shows are airing a few weeks earlier than usual, so don't forget to set your DVR's!
