We purchased our pumpkins for carving jack-o'-lanterns for our 2026 Halloween haunt today. $100 total for 14 pumpkins, all from one local roadside farm stand. We paid $15/each for 3 really big pumpkins (they're really heavy) and $5/each for the 11 medium-large pumpkins. Taking the current price of fuel and overall inflation into consideration, this was a bargain! We've been holding off on buying pumpkins until mid to late October for the past several years because we typically lose a few to rot when we used to buy them at the beginning of October. We inspected all of these to make sure there were no apparent soft spots or bruises. Anyone who has ever cut into a pumpkin that's starting to turn knows what is found inside can be rather noxious! The goal is to have at least 12 jack-o'-lanterns for Halloween night.
I love those tall skinny ones. They are gorgeous.
