2026 Haunt Character #1: The Graverobber
As we move things from this year's yard haunt from our garage into our basement, we also start working on next year's haunt characters as the PVC pipe mannequins get freed up. Meet the first character for our 2026 Frankenstein's Bride themed yard haunt: The Graverobber. The plastic prop spade we purchased was far too short for him to be leaning on, but we were able to swap in a custom length of 3/4" PVC pipe. The spade just needs to be spray painted next summer. We're going for a more realistic look for our 2026 haunt theme. Really happy with how this one turned out. He will be standing in the graveyard behind a recently dug up wooden casket (our 2009 built wood coffin prop).

Putting props together already? You two are amazing.
ReplyDeleteStarting early gives us time to mull over the mannequin's appearance and adjust things. We've started on our Dr. Frankenstein character and he's proving to be a little more difficult to pull off. First attempt was a "Nope!". Our PVC pipe mannequins have been so many different kinds of monsters that all sorts of scale adjustments have to be made to their heights, arm lengths, etc. Just getting a costume or clothes to fit right can be tricky, especially this time around with us aiming for more realistic human characters. Just finding realistic human masks was a project we spent the last several months on. The Bride was one of the characters that we attempted to build from scratch and had to go the Home Depot purchased animatronic prop route because we were not thrilled with the end results.
