Painting Mistakes Part 3

Discovered that the online baking soda fix for uncured spray paint is not really a long term solution for soft vinyl plastic. Despite sitting covered in baking soda for a week, all the baking soda did was create a temporary barrier on the dolls, it didn't cure the spray paint. As soon as the excess baking soda was removed and matte acrylic spray sealer was applied and allowed to dry, the paint underneath was still sticky and malleable and started to pull off. Too much time and resources were spent trying to salvage the dolls so we decided to scrap them and move on.

  1. The thrift store is a super place to get replacement dolls.

    1. We still have a bunch of older dress dolls, the kind with the hair and open/close eyelids, that we got from an antique store a few months ago. We bought multi-surface indoor/outdoor acrylic brush on FolkArt paint for their faces, hands, arms. We had just mistakenly thought we could use spray paint on the modern soft vinyl baby dolls that we purchased brand new and then antique them, and put them on display in the bookcase on our porch. The other dolls will be out and about in the haunt.
