60 Days Until Halloween

Well it's September 1st and we're 60 days away from the big night. There are still a few things left on the "to do" list for our haunt, but not many. Still have to preassemble the mini-mausoleum in the garage and test out some new interior lighting effects we got for it to use with this specific haunt. Also have to install new fabric panels on the front porch social distancing treat bag serving table/barricade. We also added another small prop build for the haunt. It was something we were looking for this summer, but couldn't find anything that quite fit the bill at a reasonable price until today, so those will be a surprise to share later on in the coming weeks. We have acquired all the Halloween candy for the treat bags, although being still early, we're probably going to add at least another item of candy to the bags if not more. We spend a lot of money on props, decorations, lighting, candles, and pumpkins every Halloween for the past 22 years, so we're not going to skimp on the candy. Our "decoy" outdoor Halloween decorations (the gutter stringer lights for the haunt, lights around the front door and plastic jack-o-lantern on the porch) will go up towards the end of September. We'll start buying our pumpkins for jack-o-lanterns in early October. Halloween programming on Food Network starts in less than two weeks. Also looking forward to seeing the other haunts that will be popping up out there comes October, even if we only get to see the bulk of them virtually through social media, blogs, and Haunt & Halloween forums. One of the ones we're looking forward to seeing in that category is the Clinton Twp "Neighbor Haunt" in Michigan, which is composed of many yard haunts and includes the gargantuan creations of the Attic Hatch Yard Haunt.

  1. I have started reading horror stories as early as June this year. All because of the countdown to Halloween.
