Checked the "Days To" website this morning and see we're at the 75 days until Halloween marker. We're in really good shape for the haunt at the moment and can take a breather for a bit. There's still stuff to do, but the to do list has gotten way smaller. Spent some time over at Haunt Forum and were very happy to see other fellow haunters have been busy at work making props for their haunts this Halloween. We're a little disappointed at the moment with the lack of info on new Halloween candy offerings for this year. The Halloween Skittles Shriekers were announced way back in the spring and we've yet to see them pop up in any of the local stores. We did put in a pre-order for 96 of the full sized individual serving bags of the Skittles Shriekers from Amazon and Amazon is claiming they'll arrive anywhere from August 22 to September 18th, but we're not going to hold our breath. We normally like to have all our candy for Halloween acquired by the end of September so that we can start making the trick-or-treater treat bags by mid October. We also were disappointed that one of our personal favorites for ourselves (and as back up emergency candy if we get more trick-or-treaters than expected), Butterfinger Peanut Butter Skulls were discontinued sometime after 2018, so we decided to contact the current parent company of Butterfinger professing our love of them and hoping they would be bringing them back for Halloween, but got back basically a "not gonna happen" response. We recently tried out some Clark Cups crunchy peanut butter cups and liked them a lot, so we may be going with those for the treat bags this year as well. We had also tried to be a tad greener this year by going with cotton bags with drawstrings for the treat bags versus plastic ones, but the bags we received didn't have any kind of expansion gussets so despite being the same overall dimensions as the plastic treat bags, would barely be able to fit any candy so we had to return them. That's why we plan early for Halloween!
